AI-Assistance Policy

This policy explains Emrite's position on the use of AI tools in content written and submitted by Contributors, and how it is enforced.

1. Our Position

Emrite does not prohibit the use of AI tools in the writing process. We recognize that AI can help make an article clearer, more grammatically sound, and easier for readers to digest.

Our position is straightforward: AI-assisted writing is permitted, provided it is reviewed and refined by the human author before submission. You may use AI tools to help draft, restructure, research, or polish your writing, but the final article must reflect your own review, judgment, and voice, not an unreviewed AI output submitted as-is.

We are not against AI as a tool. We are against submitting AI output as if it were finished, human-authored work without disclosure or review.

2. Disclosure

At submission, Contributors will be asked to indicate whether AI tools played a role in writing the article (a simple yes/no checkbox, with an optional field to briefly describe how AI was used).

This is a disclosure step, not a penalty. Honest disclosure of AI-assisted-but-human-reviewed work is fully compliant with this policy and will not count against a Contributor.

3. What Is Not Permitted

Submitting content that is substantially AI-generated and was not meaningfully reviewed, fact-checked, or refined by the Contributor before publication, whether or not it was disclosed.

4. How Violations Are Identified

Emrite does not use automated AI-detection software to make this determination, as these tools are unreliable and prone to false positives.

Instead, content flagged for review is assessed manually, by experienced human reviewers who have read extensively across both human-written and AI-generated content and are familiar with the patterns that distinguish them.

Enforcement is manual, not automated. Because this review process is not automated, an article that is later found to be substantially AI-generated and undisclosed may not be identified or removed immediately. This does not mean it is permitted, it means enforcement may take time.

5. Consequences of a Violation

If an article is found to violate this policy after publication:

  • The violating article will be removed from the Platform.
  • The Contributor is permanently removed from Emrite's monetization program. They may continue to write and publish on Emrite, but no future article they publish will be eligible for payment.
  • This is a permanent status change and does not apply only to the violating article, it applies to all future submissions from that Contributor going forward.

Contributors who disclose AI assistance honestly and review their work before submission are not at risk under this policy, it applies specifically to undisclosed, unreviewed AI-generated submissions.

Emrite reserves the right to request the drafting history, notes, or process behind any submission where AI-assistance disclosure or originality is in question.
